Why the MX-5 is so good
2nd May 2001 - MX-5 is voted 8th best sportscar ever out of the top 100 by prestigious British car magazine Autocar. Scan below. Read it, then either go out and drive your '5 or go and buy one!!
"You only have to test drive a Z3 to discover how stunning the 5 is"

Autocar Magazine - May 2000
"Simply the best fun you can buy for less than £16000"
Top Gear Magazine road test of MX-5 1.8i (same as mine)
"The gearchange is simply superb, as short and direct as any you'll find in a race car. The clutch and brake pedal are perfectly weighted too - theres not a millimetre of wasted travel or free play. There's no anti-lock but the Mazda's all round discs are well up to the job."
"A classic rear-wheel drive layout and expensive racing car-style double wishbone suspension all round give the Mazda near-perfect balance when it comes to handling."
"While it has a harder ride than the MG-F or Barchetta, bumps and rutted roads dont phase the MX-5. When it misbehaves, it's because you've told it to. A bootful of throttle and a tug of the wheel out of a tight bend and you're into a glorious tail-slide. It's fun, just like a proper sports car should be."
"The Mazda beats the MG-F and Barchetta. It makes you smile from the moment you get in because it feels so right. Every control has a sharpness and precision to it that the other two cars lack. For sheer driving fun it has no peers. It's still the best affordable small sportscar around. Sorry MG."
Autocar
'King of the heap is the MX-5. No question.'
Autocar
'The MX-5 is so much fun to drive that it's hard to resist the temptation of a long blast'
Car Magazine
'Mazda's new MX-5 does all that a sports car should do. It's a cracker.'
Autocar
'No roadster has given more enjoyment to its drivers over the past decade'
