QE2 record breaker:
June 1999: from Southern Evening Echo, Southampton
At 3pm Sunday, June 21, QE2 will sound her mighty siren to mark the passing of 175,296 hours of steaming, equal to exactly 20 years of steaming time.
Steaming time measured from when the pilot is dropped off to the next being taken on. This milestone will be reached as she sails between Madeira and Southampton. The "other" ten years of her 30 years of service has been spent along side 175 different ports around the world.
A Cunard spokes person said, "No other Cunard ship has ever managed this amount of steaming time"
