QE2 at speed in her last year

QE2 has always been a very fast ship, and for most of her career she's also been the fastest liner in the world.  The photos on this page offer proof that she was still easily capable of these very high speeds, very late on in her career.

Both the photos on this page are (c) all rights reserved Shawn Jeffrey Dake - oceansawaytravel@yahoo.com and he should be contacted if you wish to re-post this or use it in any way. Thanks to Kyle (stowaway2k@ca.rr.com) for sending me these photos and letting me know they existed.

QE2 at 32.8 knots, March 2008

QE2 at 32.8 knots (the fastest liner in the world still has it)

This photo of the cabin TV was taken on March 18th, 2008 and QE2 was speeding along between Shanghai, China and Osaka, Japan. The 32.8 knots was recorded at 9:55pm

The wake of QE2, the fastest liner in the world, at over 30 knots

QE2's wake at over 30 knots

This was taken earlier in the day while QE2 was doing over 30 knots.  That is the wake of the most powerful 2 propellor ship ever, and the fastest liner afloat.

In this photo also note the beautiful expanse of teak deck with such a wonderful view.  Nothing like this exists on modern ships.  Queen Victoria doesn't have ANY teak deck!
