I had fantastic fun during a long weekend with my "old"
friend Jana, her sister Carla, her cousin Christine, her friends Katie and,
Shana and their good friend Steven.
Thanks to all of them for showing me such a good time!
Thursday Lunchtime.
My Icelandair 757 waits at Glasgow
airport for the flight to Iceland (Keflavijk). This was the cheapest
and most convenient route I could find
Land ahoy! The next few pics are of
Iceland from the air. An amazing looking place. Looked like the
moon to me in places!
This island had a runway which was nearly
as long as it was!
A hot spring in the distance
After taking off from Iceland we headed
North over the ice flows and had some stunning views. These pictures
do not do them justice.
Friday Morning
Having arrived late the night before
and seen nothing but rain, this was the sight that greeted me in the morning
when I left my hotel - The Charles River. This magnificent river flows
right through Boston and Cambridge (where I was staying).
I had a beautiful walk along the Charles
to Harvard Square, above, where I met my friend Jana for lunch.
Views from around Harvard University.
Friday Afternoon
After lunch, I headed in the other
direction from my hotel - along the Charles right into Boston. This is
the John Hancock Tower. I went to the top on my first visit to Boston
in 1995 so didn't bother this time... I was also nervous... 6 months on from
9-11 and planes from Boston airport appeared to be taking off right over
it...
Boston Common looking very smart and green
early on in the season.
This girl was sitting on a rock next to
the lake in deep thought...
Friday night - first beer in America
Shana, me, Jana and Steven
Shana and me again
Saturday Morning Rowers on the Charles
Boston Common again - this time warm and
sunny and with my new friend Steven - made all the difference!
Steven yakking on his "cellphone" - and I
thought us Brits were bad!
