R.M.S. Saxonia

1954, Cunard Line

The Saxonia was built in 1954 and saild under Cunard colors.  Her extended route was from Liverpool to Montreal.

Throughout the years she was updated and painted green and then all white, sailing as a cruise ship.  In 1973 she was
sold to the Soviet Union and renamed Leonid Sobinov.  A truly beautiful and graceful ship, she is depicted in this
painting in her original form.

The label above was my Dad's.  He used it to travel from his work at John Brown's in Clydebank to the Saxonia in Southampton where he was an Engineer doing something or other...
