R.M.S. Saxonia
The first of the famous 'Saxonia Sisters'
1954, Cunard Line

The Saxonia was built in 1954 and saild under Cunard colors. Her
extended route was from Liverpool to Montreal.
Throughout the years she was updated and painted green and then all white,
sailing as a cruise ship. In 1973 she was
sold to the Soviet Union and renamed Leonid Sobinov. A truly beautiful and
graceful ship, she is depicted in this
painting in her original form.

The label above was my Dad's. He used it to travel from his work at
John Brown's in Clydebank to the Saxonia in Southampton where he was an Engineer
doing something or other... My Dad's menu from Saxonia, Thursday August 21st,
