The Normandie is seen by Ocean Liner enthusiasts as THE epitome of the Ocean Liner.   She was fast, stylish and modern.  She vied with the Queen Mary to win the Blue Riband throughout the late 30s.  Sadly, through sheer incompetence on the part of the American Navy, she burned and capsized at her berth in New York while being converted into a much-needed troop carrier during World War 2.
